Sports media can be a difficult world for women. They are often ridiculed for their looks. This is not the case for everyone. Linda Cohn, a trailblazer at ESPN, is one example of this. Cohn has been a versatile personality since being hired in 1992.

Danica Patrick

Danica Patrick, a NASCAR race driver, is an award-winning driver. She was a champion driver in multiple NASCAR races and was voted the sport's most loved driver many times. Danica is a fitness enthusiast as well as philanthropist. Danica is loved for her attractive personality and fit physique.

Patrick started her career as a driver of karts. She quickly became a racer. In 2005, she was the youngest person in history to win Indianapolis 500. Today, she is still the only female driver that has won IndyCar Series. She continues to break the female sports record.

Lindsey Vonn

Lindsey Vonn was a well-known skier as well as a world-class competitor. She is one of the most decorated women in the history of the sport. She has won many international titles, including the Downhill World Championships, three consecutive world championships, and the overall World Cup Championship. She is also a role example for women involved in sports.

Lindsey Vonn was raised in Minnesota, and started skiing at an early age. She began competing in races at age seven and soon made it to international competitions. She competed in World Junior Championships, World Cup events, becoming a World Cup champ in 2004. Vonn won the 2008 World Cup title, as well as the 2010 World Cup title.

Michelle Kwan

Michelle Kwan's interest in figure skating began at a young age. At five years old, she began skating with her older sister. She fell in love with figure skating and continued to follow her. Danny and Estella Kwan were Chinese immigrants. The Kwans were reunited at a school graduation. Her father was a phone company employee, and her mom ran the Golden Pheasant restaurant near Torrance, California. Michelle began serious training when she was eight years old. She would train for up to four hours each day. The time commitment was so great, however, that her family struggled to pay for it.


In the fall of 2003, Kwan hired noted technician Rafael Arutyunyan as her coach. The pair skated to "The Feeling Begins," for the short program, as well as "Tosca" (for the long program). Kwan tied Maribel Vinson Owen's record in U.S. women’s figure skating with nine titles at the U.S. Championships. Kwan qualified for Turin's Olympic Games the following year. Kwan was unable to compete at the World Championships because she fell on a triple salchow.

Cari Champion

Cari Champion is a well known broadcast journalist. She co-anchors the noon edition of ESPN's flagship show and hosts the Be Honest with Cari Champion podcast. She has extensive sports knowledge and experience as a broadcast journalist for multiple networks. She will actually speak on the 2019 program track "Pushing to the Limits Human Performance."

Cari Champion was born in Pasadena and attended UCLA. One older brother and one younger sister are her siblings. She is currently not married and has not yet been in a public relationship.

Li Na

Li Na is a prominent Chinese tennis player. Her humble background as the daughter a tennis player and an athlete saw her rise to prominence. She is now one of the most successful tennis players in the world and one of its wealthiest women. Her Chinese compatriots were not able to see her play until her rise in fame.

Her self-confidence and ability to inspire young Chinese has earned her praise. Her contributions are not limited to sports. Li Na is also a prominent cultural entrepreneur, and her influence extends beyond sports.
