American mixed martial arts fighter Liz Carmouche has come out as a lesbian. She is currently the Bellator Women's Flyweight World Champion and has fought for the UFC and Bellator in various weight divisions. Before joining Bellator, she competed for the Ultimate Fighting Championship in the women's flyweight & bantamweight divisions.

Carmouche was an aviation electrician in the Marine Corps for five-years. She has completed three tours in the Middle East. Carmouche began her professional MMA life in 2010. She is currently competing in the UFC's women’s bantamweight Division.

Carmouche took control of the fight during the championship round with an opportune takedown and landed a barrage of ground-and-pound from a dominant position. Her fight came to an abrupt halt when Mike Beltran, referee, intervened and called a halt. This was a major win for Carmouche who now stands at 4-0 in the Bellator cage. Velasquez had previously been unbeaten before, and this win marks the end of Velasquez's streak as the Bellator flyweight champion.

Liz Carmouche, now 4-0 in Bellator cage, has defeated Juliana Velasquez who was the former world champion. Her victory earned her the Bellator Flyweight Championship. This win was part Bellator 278’s main event. It ended only 4:47 into Round Four. This was Carmouche's first win over Velasquez in professional MMA.

She was raised at Okinawa's military base

Liz Carmouche is the daughter of an Air Force pilot. She grew up at Okinawa's military base. Her dad was posted there in the Air Force, and her mother remarried there. There was a Christian school where she graduated in 2003. Now, she's studying at San Diego City College to become a kinesiologist.
