The United States women's soccer team won 2-1 against Sweden to start the World Cup. The Americans used an aggressive attack strategy and were centered in Sweden's half of the field. They were relentless in the midfield, creating many great chances, including two in halftime. The Americans aren't done yet. Morgan Brian was injured during the first half, when she took a challenge on a Swedish defender and went down. Anna-Marie Keighley from Sweden was unable stop the injury.

Davidson, who plays professionally with the Chicago Red Stars made her World Cup debut 16 month after they were crowned World Cup champions. As a US Women's National Team member, the young defender was an integral part of the squad.
Stina Blackstenius
Stina Schwarzstenius scored twice for Sweden during their first game against America, which put the United States on the back foot. While her first goal was an unfortunate accident, she was also a crucial part of the dominant Swedish effort. Sweden is the world champions and knocked out the Americans in the 2016 Olympics. Sweden played in a 2-2 draw in Stockholm against the Americans but won in Tokyo with a score point of 4-0. Blackstenius's goals in the match against the world champs were a clear indication that Sweden is not underestimated, despite all the odds.
