The Chicago Sky, an American women’s basketball team, is based in Chicago. The team is a member the Women's National Basketball Association and competes at the Eastern Conference. The franchise was founded prior to the 2006 season. It was first called the Chicago Mercury. The Chicago Sky now has a greater following.

Drafts of the WNBA

Despite being silent, the Chicago Sky were not present at the most recent WNBA drafts. However, local players were selected as high as the first round. The Dallas Wings selected Veronica Burton from Northwestern as the seventh overall selection. The Dallas Wings selected her seventh overall pick. She averaged 17.8 point, 5.5 rebound, 6.4 assists, and four steals per season. She even reached double figures during the Big Ten tournament. The Phoenix Mercury also drafted Maya Dodson, Notre Dame's forward.

Trades

The Sky have made some moves to improve their roster this offseason. They made several trades to acquire draft picks and traded away players. These moves included the trade of Alaina Coates to Minnesota and the acquisition of Astou Ndour and Kaitlin Lou Samuelson from Dallas. They also traded their 16th draft pick in the 2021 Draft as well as their second-round pick for 2022.

The team's home games can be seen on WCIU TV, WMEU CD and WMEU-CD. However, some games are televised nationally via ESPN and NBA TV.

The Chicago Sky announces their 2021 season game broadcast schedule. The team will broadcast five regular season matches on CW26. Lisa Byington provides play-byplay commentary and Meghan McKeown provides color analysis. Five games will also be broadcast on My Michiganiana in South Bend.

The Chicago Sky's vibrant fan base celebrates the team and strives for improvement in the city. Thousands of Sky supporters turned out to celebrate the team's 2015 WNBA championship. The parade shut down downtown and took over Chicago Park. This was a beautiful way to strengthen community spirit.
