U.S. Soccer is a member of FIFA
FIFA is the FIFA member country for the United States national soccer team. The team was established for the first time in 1885. It was first played outside of the United Kingdom against Canada. A match that the U.S. lost 1-0. 1934 saw the U.S. become a finalist in the World Cup. The next year, it played in Newark, New Jersey, but the game was not recognized by FIFA. The U.S. was awarded bronze and silver medals at the St. Louis Summer Olympics in men's hockey, which were organized by St. Rose Parish (Christian Brothers College) and Christian Brothers College. It was the first tournament outside of Europe.
As a FIFA member, the United States belongs its regional body, CONCACAF. CONCACAF regulates international soccer across North America. The United States soccer federation is a nonprofit organization that has its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. It is responsible for overseeing both amateur and professional soccer across the United States.

It has participated in seven consecutive FIFA World Cups
The U.S. men’s soccer team was almost non-existent in international soccer until 1982. Although the North American Soccer League had been established in 1960 and 1970, it failed to make a mark in global soccer. The United States soccer didn't suffer, however. 1982 was the first World Cup appearance for the United States. They were 1-1-1 after losing to Egypt on tiebreaker.
The team has enjoyed a varied and long history in soccer. In the 1990s, U.S. soccer made their debut at the World Cup and advanced to the quarterfinals twice. Today, the U.S. soccer team is a strong force in the sport. They have hosted three World Cups.

The Women's World Cup took place in the United States in 1999. The competition was moved from China in 1994, when it was first hosted. The bid was successful, and the U.S. Soccer organization successfully hosted the tournament. The U.S. Cup '95 tournament was hosted by the US women's hockey team. It saw them defeat Mexico 4-0 and tie Colombia. The women's team also came third, defeating Canada 3-0 and earning all star honors.
In addition to the World Cup, the US soccer team has hosted several other international soccer events, including the Women's Olympic Games and the Pan-American Games. The US women’s soccer team has made tremendous strides since 2014. Their World Cup victory has raised their international profile. Tobin Heath and Abby Wambach are among the most well-known names in women's soccer.

It has won 4 Olympic Gold medals
The United States soccer has won four Gold Medals in Olympic soccer's history. Each team has won a gold and a silver medal, both for the men's and womens' teams. The 1996 gold medal won by the US soccer teams was their first. They defeated China in Atlanta 2-1. They defeated Norway to win the second medal in Sydney, Australia. They then won three consecutive games.
The dominance of the women's team in soccer has been a tradition. Canada beat them in the semifinals at Rio. While they have won more medals, they have yet to win any World Cups. Abby Wambach isn't yet ready to retire, but she used her Olympic experience to motivate the team and give them an opportunity for improvement.
