Hope Solo pleads guilty at driving while under the influence

U.S. soccer star Hope Solo has pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated. The judge in Forsyth County sentenced Solo, aged 23, to suspended sentences, a 30 day active sentence, and a substance abuse assessment. The judge gave Solo credit for time she spent in a rehab facility. The sentence includes a $2,500 penalty and the requirement for Solo to complete an assessment on substance abuse.

In a Walmart parking space, she was arrested

Hope Solo was arrested in a Walmart parking lot in Winston-Salem North Carolina. The mother of two children was arrested for driving under the influence and resisting police. In addition to these charges, she was also charged with misdemeanor child abuse. Hope Solo was seen lying on the driver's side seat by a witness. The officers pulled Solo over. Solo and her 2 children were lying in the backseat.

In 2016, she was suspended from Women's National Team

Hope Solo, a former member of the U.S. Women's National Team, was expelled for 30 days in 2016 after she was arrested in 2014 on two counts each of domestic violence. This was due to an altercation that she had with her halfsister and her 17year-old nephew. In February, she will be eligible to play again for the USWNT. The suspension comes on the heels of reports that Solo had a drinking problem and was intoxicated while driving in a U.S. soccer van.

She has had several run-ins with law enforcement

Hope Solo, a retired soccer player has had numerous run-ins in the courts with law enforcement. In 2014, she was arrested for two misdemeanor charges of assault. Despite her plea of not guilty, she was eventually acquitted due to procedural violations. Earlier this year, the city of Kirkland dropped domestic violence charges against the soccer star. Meanwhile, Solo denied all accusations.
