LPGA Tour Awards for Women Golfers

LPGA Tour offers a variety of awards for women golfers. Players are also rewarded for their performance, including Player of the Year. A player receives a number of points for each top-10 finish. Points at major championships or the Tour Championship are doubled. 30 points for first-place equals 12 points for second. A player who finishes in the third place is awarded a point, and a player who finishes in fourth place receives four points. For eighth-place, players receive three points. Similarly, players in ninth-place finishers earn two points for eighth place. The Vare Trophy is another award, named after the player who scored the lowest average during the season.

Louise Suggs was the founder

Louise Suggs was one of the 13 founding members of Ladies Professional Golf Association. She died in her home at the age of 91. She was a pioneer in the women’s game and was instrumental in creating the LPGA tour, which she did in 1950. She is a part of the LPGA Hall of Fame. Suggs has won at minimum one LPGA tournament in thirteen years straight and has 61 LPGA Championships to her credit.

Louise Suggs was first Chinese player to play on the LPGA Tour

Louise Suggs, a native of Georgia, won the U.S. Women's Open in 1949, winning by 14 strokes - the largest margin of victory in the event's history. When she was a teenager, she won both the U.S Women's Amateur, and the British Women's Open. Bob Hope nicknamed her "the Great Distance Girl" and later became a prominent LPGA player.


Annika Sorenstam was the latest winner of an LPGA Tour event

Annika Sörenstam began the 2008 LPGA year earlier than most. She won the SBS Open Hawaii and the Michelob ULTRA Open, her 70th career triumph. She won the Stanford Pro-Am in Hawaii and the Michelob ULTRA Open to surpass the $22,000,000 earnings mark. After all of her accomplishments, she remains a warm and approachable individual, even as she has achieved so much on the golf course.

The LPGA is affiliated with Women's Senior Golf Tour.

Jane Blalock's JBC Marketing organizes an annual golf tournament for seniors called the Women's Senior Golf Tour. It is not part of the LPGA, but the tour is affiliated with it. The tour has held a season ending championship every year since 2006. LPGA has played in Legends Tour events. LPGA organizes events for younger ladies in addition to the Legends Tour.

Dow is official sustainability resource to the LPGA

The LPGA Tour has partnered up with Dow in order to create a digital hub called "Celebrating Green" that will help combat climate change and promote responsible environmental behavior. The hub provides information on LPGA initiatives and highlights the company's commitment to sustainable operations and climate action. The LPGA, in partnership with Dow will offer the OnCourse(r), a sustainability software program for its tournaments.
